Below, you’ll find our policies on studio classes, camp, teacher training and private classes*
We’ve got the yoga mats and props, but your child will need to dress in comfortable clothes and BRING A WATER BOTTLE. We also recommend that your child use the restroom before the beginning of class.
Does Yoga Playhouse have free trial classes?
We know it’s hard to tell if your child will like something before they try it so we encourage letting them give it a go before committing. A fee of $10 will be assessed for trial classes, and you MUST call the studio at least an hour ahead of time to make sure there is room in the class you want your child to visit.
Do I need to do anything before my child attends class?
Yes, you must sign a liability release form for your child before they can participate in a Yoga Playhouse class. You must also pay for classes prior to your child’s attendance.
Do you take walk-ins?
We do allow walk-in students in regular yoga classes ONLY, not in any of the specialty classes such as Yoga Meets Philanthropy and Yoga Meets Science. We don’t recommend the walk-in approach because, unlike adult yoga classes, all classes at Yoga Playhouse are rooted in a theme that is followed for 10-weeks. If your child pops into a class mid-theme they might feel a little lost.
What happens if my child misses class?
If your child misses a class, they may make up the class by coming to a class for their age group offered on a different day of the week. (This is only in effect if their class is offered on a different day.) Make up classes must be completed before the end of the session. There are no refunds for missed classes.
What happens if class is canceled due to weather or other circumstances?
If Yoga Playhouse cancels class due to inclement weather, we will post the cancellation on our FaceBook page You will also receive an email if you have registered for our newsletter. You will be notified of a make-up date for the canceled class.
What if I don’t finish all the classes on my five-class card during a session?
Only one class from a five-class card can roll over into the second session. All other classes must be used within the session the card was purchased.
What if I sign up my child and then need to cancel?
Once the session has started, you will be given a credit for the full amount (minus a $20 service fee). The credit can be used for future classes or merchandise from Yoga Playhouse.
Can I sign up my child for private classes?
Yes! We do teach private classes. The fee is $75 for a 45-minute session. Call or email us to reserve a time and register. Classes must be paid for in advance prior to commencement.
What if my child misses a scheduled private class?
Cancellations must be made over the phone. In order to receive a full refund minus a $20 service fee, you must cancel at least 24-hours in advance. Cancellations made within 24 hours prior to the scheduled class will be charged in full.
Can I purchase a gift certificate?
Yes you can! Please do so online or over the phone. Gift certificates expire after a two-year period.
My child lost something at a Yoga Playhouse, what do I do?
We will make every effort to help your child find any lost items, but we are not responsible for any lost items. Please refrain from sending your child to Yoga Playhouse with valuables. In the studio there is a Lost and Found box for items left behind in class. The box will be cleaned out once a month and any unclaimed items will be thrown out or given to charity.
Can my child come to class on their own if they are not potty trained?
Students must be potty trained and able to take themselves to the bathroom on their own in order to attend class without a parent on premises. Teachers are not able to leave class in order to take a student to the restroom. We also suggest you ask your Yogi to go to the restroom before the start of class so they won’t miss any of the fun by having to go during class. If your child is not potty trained, please do not drop off.
It can be hot and we do spend a lot of time outside, so make sure your child brings a water bottle and sun screen to camp. Your camper will also need a bag lunch and TWO SNACKS. If your child requires any emergency medication, that must be given to the camp director with instructions from your child’s doctor.
What should my child NOT bring to camp?
Do not send your child with cell phones, tablets or other electronics. We are a NUT-FREE camp, so please do not send your child with nuts of any kind in their lunch, snack or otherwise. Your child won’t need to bring a yoga mat or props – we have plenty.
What if our plans change and my child can’t come to camp?
If you cancel more than two weeks in advance and you will receive your full payment, minus a 15% processing fee. Any cancellations made within two weeks before the start of camp will only be refunded 50% of the total amount paid.
My child needs to take medication, who should I tell?
Please be sure to tell the camp director. Bring any instructions from a doctor in writing and any medications in a bag clearly marked with your child’s name on it. The camp director will share the information will all camp staff members. We can not administer medication without instructions from your child’s doctor.
What is the Yoga Playhouse policy on discipline? We don’t discipline children, rather we use positive reinforcement to encourage participation and kind treatment of others. In accordance with the New Jersey Health Department’s requirements of youth camps, no camp staff and campers are prohibited from making the following actions against any camper: deprivation of food, isolation, subjecting to corporal punishment or abusive physical exercise as a means of punishment.
What is the staff to camper ratio at Yoga Playhouse Camp? At minimum, there will be one staff member with 10 Omies (4-6 year olds) and two staff members with 20 Namastes/Zens (7 years and older). In accordance with New Jersey Health Department, at all times, there will be 2 adults per every 20 campers.
My child isn’t potty trained.
We would love for both you and your child to attend classes at the studio, but we are not set up to care for children who are not potty trained at camp.
If you are attending a free Yoga Playhouse Playshop, we ask that you register in advance either online or over the phone. Paid Playshops must be paid in full prior to the commencement of class/es. A full refund (minus a 15% processing fee) will be granted only when the cancellation is made 48 hours prior to the beginning of the Playshop. Any cancellations within 48 hours of the Playshop will be honored only if Yoga Playhouse is able to fill your child’s (or your) space.
What do I need to bring to Teacher Training?
Bring a water bottle, wear comfy clothes and be prepared to have fun while learning! You may also bring lunch and snacks or purchase at nearby restaurants. Water, hot tea and snacks will be provided.
What if I need to cancel Teacher Training?
Cancellations made four weeks prior to the start of training will be refunded in full minus a 15% processing fee. Payments for any cancellations made within four weeks before classes start can be used for a future training.
Will I receive credit through the Yoga Alliance for this training?
We are working toward getting the Yoga Playhouse Teacher Training approved for the Yoga Alliance recognized 95-hour teacher training. It is our understanding that, once approved, credit will be retroactively applied.
